Coach 360

Jun 20, 2018

In our latest episode, Mackey is live with Coach James Stagnitta, Head Coach of the Charlotte Hounds Major League Lacrosse team.

Coach dives into his career and shares with us this idea that coaching is different than leading. Coach explains that as he grew and developed as a coach, he grew as a leader as well. It's one thing to put people in set and tell them what to do, and it's another thing to truly develop them and lead them, then it's a lot easier to get them to do things as a group and collective unit.

Coach goes on to talk about culture and what the process for creating a team culture looks like for a professional organization. Coach says, "A good culture can make an average team very good, and a bad culture can break down a great team."

Coach shares some advice he would've given himself as a first year coach knowing what he knows now. He shares a little about empathy and putting yourself into you player's position by asking more questions and understanding what they're going through a little more instead of assuming how they feel and what they're going through.
