Coach 360

Apr 30, 2018

In our latest episode, Mackey is live at the Leadership Summit encouraging coaches and leaders to stand firm in what they do and who they are.

Mackey talks about how easy it is being so close to the end of the year to want to coast and quit continually pursuing excellence in everything you do. If you are at that place in the year, at the place in your life when you want to give up and quit, stand firm.

Everyone has been in a place where your mind wants to tell you to keep at it and your heart wonders whether it's worth it or not. Mackey takes us through a similar battle he experienced in high school. He did everything right, he was bigger, faster, stronger than everyone else. He was in extracurriculars and had good grades, he did everything in his power to do what was right. Mackey gets a call from a college coach, all his dreams were coming true, and in the first play, playing in front of those coaches for the first time, he injured his knee, his dreams and goals seemed to slip through the very hand he thought he had held his future in. He did everything right, but everything still went wrong.

More than one of you know what that feeling is like, the feeling of continually pursuing excellence, making the right decisions, and everything still seeming to go wrong. Stand firm. You and your dream and everything you have worked for is worth fighting for. There is no shame in your struggle. There is no weakness in asking for help. The greatest demonstration of strength you could have is not pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, but it is peeling open your hands and inviting others into your struggle to help you.
